Even Vince agrees that drivers from south of the QLD border can't drive LOL

Cheers Kev

Hi Doug, Can remember being one of those no brainers...lol, years ago i drove head long into a flooded road, in my ek ute;

When the water came over the bonnet and was up to the bottom of the wind screen, I chat myself ! found reverse real quick ( the thing was still going dunno how lol) but the real worry was the water that was filling up the back half !!!. Heaps of revs slipping the clutch and someone up above got me out .of there

I'm very cautious and probably the biggest Woos, out there now when it comes to any water crossing.

Cheers Axle.

Didnot see it first hand, but an idiot in a borrowed discovery drove into 6 feet of water at the top of tantangra dam after xmas. The crossing is normally 30cm deep but the dam had risen over the crossing. Trying to impress the new girlfriend. The car was full of passengers, and were lucky to excape with their lives. Only 15cm of roof was visable. When it was pulled out he expected it to start.

Ben I am looking forward to seeing the photos myself. My mate who went down 5 days before us managed to tow the vehicle out. The water temp would have been about 15c, occupants had hypothermia. Idiot had to duck dive to attach a snatch strap. Unbelievable!. Mine you we got both vehicles stuck at various times, wettest xmas period I have seen in the snowy.

Yes, I remember the Darley Road ford. It was good entertainment standing on the footbridge watching the idiots trying to get through. One was a pizza delivery vehicle that never made the delivery. There was one car that was sitting just downstream of the ford for weeks with just the roof showing. When the river dropped it was found to be perched on top of another car!

What a land of contrasts, fools in floods up north and people loosing thier lives in bush fires in the west (not being fools but accepting faulty advice). We were in Esperance and about to head home via Coolgardie when we got a SMS from a mate in Albany that the fishing was good so we went that way. Had we gone as intended we would have been in the thick of the fires. But staying put until all was clear, plenty of beer in the pubs and ground to go gold fosicking on. Doug and Dusty, watch out for the wombats on the Nullabour, driving into the sun a couple of years ago we ran over a dead one and ended up off the ground with the thing stuck under the gearbox cross member. What a job it was getting off it as the jack wouldn't lift high enough to get the body out. Ended up unhitching the rig and got a tow off with a 4x4. Loverly and cool and dry in Collie today, rain on the way

Yeh 3 Truckies lost lives out there in the fires, Trucks can be replaced, Drivers can't.
Albany is one nice town but way way too far south for my liking.
As for the dead Wombat....well the road is very abrasive at speed, it would have worn away...lol..
