G'day all,
I have a Jackaroo 1997 3.10 deisel Turbo and thinking of purchasing a Pop Top Jayco 17.55-4 - Specifications for the caravan is - Overall length 23'7", Towball Weight 170kg and Tare Weight 1640kg (unloaded), Tandem . If anyone could give me their opinion as to whether the combination of vehicle and van will be compatible or any other useful advice, I would love to hear from you.

You'll have no worries with that setup, the Jack has a towball max of 250kg and can legally tow 2500kg.... I pull a 2500kg Gin Palace with
mine no worries....

Should be ok on paper, as mentioned - by the time you are loaded up though, the 3.1 will be working hard. Re the download spec on the ball - my 3.0L 99 Jack (have just sold it) originally had a spec of 120kg - if you have the right towbar, you might be ok with a 250kg limit for all practical purposes, but insurance (and claims) issues can't be discounted. Suggest you make sure you are in the clear. BTW - we have only towed our Campomatic with the Jack - with a decent van in mind for the near future, I moved up to the higher specs of a LC 100.

Thanks Mr Fawlty and Darian
I used to have a camper but sold it in favour of looking at a poptop. I travelled from the West and did SA, Vic & Tas with the Jack and Camper - The camper was loaded to the hilt and the Jack didn't even work up a sweat!! Thank you for your advice - you have prompted me to perhaps do some further research.
