What has happened to this trek note- Calvert Range to Eagle Hwy? I remember reading it from a news letter about a year ago. Now I can't find it.

Everything that came under the Martu land claim from May 31, 2007, can no longer be accessed. The Warri Claypan on the Eagle Hwy is still outside the claim area. The Calvert's and the gorge further up the track are definitely in the claim. Same for the Puntawarri track that heads from Canning's Cairn to Jigalong.

Cheers

Yep, that's about it!

We did the trek from Warri in 2006 before the Martu claim was settled. It was indeed a worthwhile trip especially seeing all the magnificent rock art in the area.

I am sure that if you obtained a permit to visit the Calvert Ranges you could still do the trek.

When the Treknote was first published I pointed out to EO Management that there were no formal tracks between Warri and Birrill Rock Hole. They were unaware of this. Shortly after this the trek note was pulled.

Cheers

We were asked to remove the trek from the site as access was a no no. We were contacted directly and advised that access was not going to be granted even if requested. However if you wish to ring the Martu people and confirm either way we would be happy to receive any additional feedback however. We removed three treks from the system due to this land claim and access changes.
