hi all thanks for replies, yes they were caught at the mouth, and there where a few of them fishing.
this brings me to another question, if they were hooked at the mouth and landed on the inside, ( played through the mouth to the inside and landed) are they sea mullaway or coorong mullaway?

Of course they are classed as caught in the sea. Technically the sea is where the fish was hooked, therefore that is where it was caught. eg. You are fishing in the onkaparinga river on the side of the
bridge that is Outside the boundary for catching Bream, it is a good fish and you happen to land it on the side of the boundary where it is not ok to fish, what are you going to do? I would put my money on that you would keep the fish. Which is fine, because you hooked it in an area where you are allowed to keep it.
Pity the Fisheries don't spend more time down at the Mouth as the Mulloway get slaughtered by people with no regard for the regulations.

yes pete, you are right, as you may or may not know i have a mate whose an inspector. it really does not matter where you landed it, you cant have more than two per person over 75cm in your possession. and if you think they cant tell the difference between the two your wrong. they often pull over 4x4s as they leave
the beach. he has heard every excuse under the sun but them's the rules. your nicked mate, and he loooooooooooves his job.
cheers mate.
