Hi all,

Just bought a imported Toyota Hiace with 1kz engine, turbo engine. it starts and runs perfectly but the only thing annoying me is the rough stop. it gives rough shock for 0.5 second or so when I turn the key for stop.

had a chat with mates and they reckon this is normal to diesel engine? Is this true? is there anything I can do to it?

thank all in advance.

A quick guess from experience. The injection pump timing could need looking at.

It sounds like this might be your first experience with owning a diesel. IMHO stopping a diesel because of their high compression compared to a petrol causes them to stop a lot more suddenly. This is a lot more noticeable with a four cylinder. I think I would be more concerned with how well it starts and runs than how it stops. All the same have a look at the engine mounts, you may have a broken one

Thanks ,Pop

It has been my 4th turbo diesel vehicle in the last three years, this is the first time I encountered this shock, Currently I have another identical imported Hiace with higher mileage but with the shoch at all, the engine just stopd immediately once the key is turned.

Could it be the injector needing a cleaning job?

If your 'handy' mechanically, remove the fuel cutoff valve.
Clean and reseat it, then reinstall it again.

My GU TD does it as well, right from new, now 8yo.
Nissan weren't much help when it was under warranty, reckoned they did some tweaking, but still no different.
I just put up with it.
