Well its been and gone.Gee didnt that week zoom by.
We picked up our Magic 3 river boat from Moama and after a quick lesson on driving it we were away.Over the following 7 days we cruised down to the Torrumbarry weir and back to
Echuca.Had a great time, hot weather, plenty of swimming, great sights and a bit of fishing(no luck).I couldnt believe the amount of people camped along the banks of the Murray, more or less the whole way to the weir on the vic side. And you share the river with about 5000 skiers and jet skis, which I must add we very accomadating with big slow house boats drifting down the middle of the river.
Mozzies,
well they just wernt there(thank goodness). All in all a good trip, just to short.
And one last thing, it does get boring driving the house boats so make sure if your going on one that there is a few people that can drive, we usually did about 1 1/2 hr stints.

glad you had a good time, houseboats are lovely and never boring, good job you didn't get bogged with the river being so low, we drove along the river (what was left) yesterday to see all the boat ramps totally out of the water and family's walking in the middle of the river. it's not a pretty sight down here (
Goolwa SA). we hired a house boat from
Blanchetown and went as far as Waikerie and got bogged in the middle and that was in July 07. it's certainly a good way of finding good camping spots.

Up around the section we were in there was plenty of water(to us anyway), the middle of the river was usually around 7mts deep(according to fish finder) and all boat ramps had plenty of water over them.
Be nice for the river to get a good flush out.

The water behind the weirs is usually good. Torrumbarry Weir would have held plenty of water. Bet you did not go through the weir or up stream far from
Echuca!!

the part of the river we were in was the highest part in SA and our fish finder mostly read around 1.2 metres deep, yes there were
places (near some cliffs that were around 10 metres)
the spot were we nearly got bogged was in the middle and the depth was .5 metres. we certainly need a good flood to come through and open up the mouth. i pitty those people that built those million $ mansion on flood plans when it happens-
well i don't know if i do pitty them if they are stupid enough to build there.

No, didnt go through weir or go up stream from
Echuca. We were not allowed to go through and now you say it, we were told it was to shallow in
places to go up stream from
Echuca.

i just wished i knew how to put photos on here, the sight of boatramps sitting quite away from the water on our great river would make a grown man cry in his beer.

Hi Nick.
Glad you had a good time.

Just watched a story on Channel 10 news stating that parts of the murray were worse than battery acid due to excessive farming practices. I hope all this rain from up north in NSW finially makes its way into the Murray/darling system.
Regards.
Vince
