Hi all, been off the air for a bit. (had work to do)

Been tidying up the slide on camper and installing the Xantrex Battery Monitor. (Good bit of kit that.)

Now one of the Shurflo pumps doesn't.
The unit has 2 pumps for 2 seperate water tanks. The 100l unit works fine. the 60l doesn't.

It has power to it but no go.
Do these things get a air lock or some such.
I have had these pumps before and they never missed a beat, what gives.

Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome

You'd need to check firstly to see if there is power getting to the pump. Use a multimeter of test light and attach to the 2 cables where they plug into the pump (assuming there are spade terminals fitted?)

If there is power, it could be a seized motor or dicky brush etc. I recently had to pull my shower pump apart with a no-go issue. I dismantled it and found the bearings were seized up. Bought a new pump.

Cheers

As it appears that there is power at the pump it could be the pressure switch or as above.

There is power at the pump. It was working yesterday.
It's ony 18 months old with not very much use.

What's the go with the pressure switch?

I assume it is the pressure type pump that shuts off when the pressure builds up. If so there is a pressure switch in the actual pump head, I don't know whether it is separately serviceable or not.

'Yesterday' when it was working was that before you fitted the battery monitor ;-)))

In a word YES
I know where you are going, I checked everything and the 100l pump still works, as does everything else.

I just LOVE electrics.

I've had a bit to do with these pumps and usually the problem is the pressure switch.

Give the pump a light tap on the business end and see if it works.
There is an adjusting screw in the centre of the diaphragm and sometimes all is needs is a bit of a tweak.

Under the end cap you will find a micro switch.
I buy these from jaycar (SM 1040) and they fit ok with a bit of fiddling in the pumps we use.
We were unable to obtain the switches from our local distributor as they only source the pump complete. (USA made) so thats why we improvised with the jaycar switch. They are quite cheap too.

Hope this is of help too you.

Thanks David I've tried the tap no go. So now it's the screw but a bit hard to get at so will have to fiddle a bit.

The supplier has offered a replacement so I guess I'm covered.

Have these pumps on houseboats - just run power directly to the pump to prove motor or switch , unhook both wires into the pressure switch ,connect the red & the black wire from the bottom of the pump to pos. & neg respectively , if pump runs fit new switch if not disect motor ( rarely a problem though)

Individual parts are avail from Breha Industries in Melbourne - no I am not involved - just a customer for last 20 yrs. The Whisper King model is ideal if installed inside - very quiet .
