Apart from MHIA what other companies offer good insurance for an offroad camper trailer.
Just got knocked back by MHIA because of those pesty speed cameras in 50 KMPH zones.
Many thanks to all of you that offer advice

Had ours insured with NRMA. No issues although we never had to make a claim so cant comment on that part of it. Whats the speed camera's got to do with it. Had a few I take it ?? Wouldn't that be an issue with the car insurance as
well not just the camper ?? Regards Steve M

Yeah I had the same problem with CIA.
Ended up ringing suncorp which were cheaper anyway, they just add more to your excess

I have
mine with RAA. I'm covered as long as I'm on a recognised road/track that appears on maps. Never had to make a claim though but I haven't heard anything negative about them.

Hi Bob.
I arranged insce on my camper through TCIS Insurance Brokers of
Adelaide, phone0882787000.
They have policies for agreed value & market value.
Give them a try.

We tried to insure our car with APIA, they were only $300.00 dearer than RACV.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
Have checked out most of them and (in my opinion) after reading all the fine print, the company that knocked us back (MHIA) because of 3 speeding fines (doing 53/54 in a 50 zone .... and how many of us have done this and not got caught) are still the best for an offroad camper trailer. CIL came out next best followed closely by TCIS. Most of them do not cover contents unless they are in a locked compartment - hence anything in a tent section is not covered. However TCIS have a special camping equipment policy - at a premium ofcourse!
Thanks again everyone and I hope that my followup posting is of help to someone else in the future.
Cheers Bob

MHIA camper trailer insurance
This one was $440 for around $35,000 including contents and annexe AND they cover contents in the tent section
CIL caravan insurance
This one was $413 but benefits not as good and contents not covered in tent
TCIS 4WD camper trailer insurance
This was another good one with a separate cover for camping equipment (whether in the tent, under the annexe or by the fire), but unfortunately it comes with a separate premium - so the total was $579
Hope this was what you wanted.
Bob
