Not too sure of the technical in and outs but what about an under-floor unit. Can't think of any suitable location for such an add-on.

There is a Dometic model for Pop Tops, very light around 20 kilos.

Other than that the Heron type that uses up cupboard space which is very limited in that model anyhow

Would be a very interesting excercise working out the heatload to size the unit given that the walls are canvas / plastic. I really think this would be a huge expense for not much gain.

Hi Joe,

We have bought a 3 speed, 12volt, 10 inch fan from USA called Endless Breeze for about $AU130 delivered to Perth. Couldn't locate same item in Australia.
This is probably the most practical means of cooling in the camper when there is no breeze on those hot and humid days.
It draws approx. 3 amps full speed and 1.5 amps on low which still moves quite an acceptable volume of air.
Ours plugs into a Hella cig. type fused plug which I fitted, connected to 200ah AGM battery bank.
I'm assuming the airconditioning you require is for cooling.
Here's the site where we bought ours. Very easy smooth transaction.

Good luck

Given the canvas walls mentioned above Joe, a Dometic 1900 that we have in the Karavan can be run off a Honda EU2000i if needed.

hi joe

as i too have a swan i have been interested in the subject for some time.

late last year i seen a similar style camper on ebay for sale that was air conditioned. i even used it as a reply for someone else on here that asked a similar question. search and you may get a glimpse of it.

he actually had fitted a split system in it. the indoor unit was in the cupboard under the front club lounge facing to the rear. the outdorre unit on the a frame. from memory the sliding doors were removed from the cupboard. this would work ok on 240v power set up but not sure on other set ups.

i found that as long as the air was moving around enough you remained somewhat "cool" with these campers and the large window openings it allows for air flow as long as you find a way to move it around. i use several of the square type fans and so far i am ok. not cold, just ok. maybe not at 40 degrees plus though? oh i also make sure i fit an overhead fly from heavy duty silver tarp with a 12 inch gap to the van roof and that really helps. without it i would be stuffed, or maybe cooked?? cheers mick
