Hi All,

I'm looking at building a 12v battery box for my 120aH battery with connections for trailer plug, cigarette lighter, voltmeter and Anderson plug.

My question is - is it possible to connect the Anderson plug so that the wiring is within the battery box, and no wiring is exposed on the outside of the box.

Unfortunately I'm not all that "handy" so I need all the help I can get.

Regards

Go to Snooper cheep or similar and you can buy a box with all the gear built in.
The wiring has to come out somewhere and its easier to connect if the plug is mounted on the outside.
If its waterproofing you are worried about shoot some lanotec into it
Why put it in a box anyway, cooler if its not or is it inside tha car., If it is its illegal to have a wet cell inside a vehicle if its not sealed and vented to the outside. AFAIK

Graham,

It is not a wet cell battery, it is an AGM battery and it will not be inside the vehicle. It is being built onto the A-Frame of my caravan.

I'm wanting to build it in a box so that it has some degree of portability.

Ah well the more info the better removes the doubt as to what you want to do. Wasnt criticizing just pointing out a limitation as you didnt state where it was going

Yes quite easily done.

Start of with a good battery box.

Then drill the holes to match the back of the Anderson plug and it should look like this.

FLYER

The pictures toward the bottom show the plugs in position.

Derek.

Hi Derek,

Unfortunately due to the size of the battery, none of the battery boxes fit, so I had a steel box made up by a local sheet metal fabricator for $50 and am fitting everything to it.

I might see if he can refabricate the lid with a set down so that I can mount the Anderson plugs on the set down and feed the wire back to the terminals.
