Just wanted to know where to go to get some info on travelling the Kidson Track (Wapet Road) from Great Northern Hwy to Canning Stock Route. Has anyone done this trip and how was it?

I have done some of the Kidson. From the Kunawarritji turnoff to the Great Northern Hwy.

Willem Hi.

would not you have done all of the kidson, didn't you travel from the creator up to Kunawarritji?

Kidson only travels to Kidson Bluff

WAPET Road travel to Patience oil well, so tectonically (had to use spell check) you will have driven the most of all.. I think

Cheers

Richard

just applied for the five permits to do the AB, oh what a feeling.. :-)

Ummmm Richard....you are getting the 2005 trek mixed up with the 2006 one. I haven't driven the bit from Kunawarritji to the junction of the Punmu Road.

Tectonically and creator and commutate????????????

Sounds a bit like Richard Speak. Suggest you use a dictionary when posting.....LOL

Yep, piece of cake. Drove much of it at night. The best part is the highway at the end of it (GNH) :)))

We did the Kidson in 2005, we had to leave the CSR because of rain, (15 vehicles were bogged from Well 33 to Well 48) so we exited from Well 33 (Kunnawaritji), went up to Halls Creek and down to Well 48, missed the 15 wells in between. We enjoyed the Kidson.

Cheers

Travelled the WAPET/Kidson mid 2007 on liesurely 6 day trip. There's a few pics on 'my rig' page. Will try to find earlier post on this and will post a few more pics later today.

Track is easy going but also easy to come unstuck. A good, untravelled track. Few scenic highlights.

Best regards

Chris

One thing others have not told you , or didn't know about . Towards the northern end , about 50k from the blacktop from memory . Look for some rocky bluffs with what appear to be cavers . There's , or was a pullin spot below them on the northern side of the track . You should find some old paintings . Look close as they are faint , but they are there . Cheers Errol
