We are thinking of buying an electric winch. Has any one had any problems with either the 9500lb winch or the T-max 9,000lb winch.

Thank you Janet

I have a 9500 BRAWN which is a T MAX

The original importer for BRAWN put too much grease inside the brake mechanism and the grease went hard and stopped the brake from working properly. A mate and I pulled the winch apart, serviced it and now it is working well. They are very well made and I have used mine mainly for odd jobs around the property and also for extricating mates from serious bogs :-)

Cheers

Janet,
Without knowing what vehicle it is hard to say what you need but whatever you buy make sure you have a snatch block and winch extension cable and a tree protector etc. The snatch block allows doubling of the pulling power, albeit at the cost of halving the pulling distance, hence the need for extension sometimes. You can also use it to change pulling direction which is useful sometimes.
cheers

Sorry, forget to mention that the vehicle will be a Nissan GU patrol. Hope this helps.

What bullbar do you have?
ARB say that a 12000lb winch can't be fitted with their steel winch bar, but it can be.
