I read acouple of weeks ago that the
Walkers Crossing track markers (or some of them) are missing. Is this still correct and if so does anyone have the relevant GPS coords. for the various turn-offs etc. We are traveling from Innaminka to
Birdsville and then across the Simpson in June/July (like everyone else) so the GPS coords would be handy. Also, is the "Knolls" section still closed to the WAA line.

Hi reece - took a gps through the simpson,
innamincka,
birdsville walkers- didnt even fire it up maps are so accurate tracks are so good - if you can get lost there you are a better adventurer than me. Knolls was not closed just the end of the waa line from the knolls track - not sure if open yet but cant be too much water out there now
have fun

Waa line is still closed on eastern end. You shouldn't need a GPS to get through
Walkers Crossing - Kezza is quite correct. The maps and tracks are good.

Reece,
If you give me an email address I can send you a full plot from
Birdsville to
Innamincka via
Walkers Crossing.

To GUPatrol
Thanks for the offer, the others have allayed my fears of getting lost.
I hope the WAA line has dried and open by the time I head off but I suppose there are always the other ways across.

There are plenty of other ways to go across - I really don't see why people like the WAA. Give yourself plenty of time and criss-cross and up and down all the tracks and see everything. Weather freezing today - cold SW blew in about 9:30 a.m. - guess it's bringing snow to the High Country. Be a bit frosty in
the Desert tonight methinks. But the sun is still shining and plenty of wood for a big campfire here.
