Hi,
We are planning to travel around Oz around July for 6 months. I have searched high and wide for a guide or advice regarding
check lists for gear to include, but to no avail. Can anyone out there supply me with a basic list or point me to any publications. We will be travelling with a 4wd/roof rack/camper trailer, and realise that there are big variants depending on trip length, family size etc, but would be happy to have a basic guide, so I get a feeling for what is best and worst to include in my carrying capacity.
Cheers CeeJ

My tip is first take a 2 or 3 day 'trip' to the local caravan park with what you think you need and are advised to take..
Then you can safely leave at
home what you don't use or believe you can do with-out.
Keep weight and 'useless stuff' to a minium and you will have a gr8 time.

try having a look at this caravan forum/website. i am sure you would find plenty of advice here on this subject as
well as many other van questions. also plenty of photos to checkout on setups, modifications and van parks, locations etc

Haven't actually done an extended trip, but short trips of three to four weeks have taught me a lot. Get your wife to pack/make a list & then discard 75% of it and you will be close to the money.
But if you have done a few 3 to 4 week trips you usualy establish what you took to be surplus & what you wish you had taken. Good luck & happy travelling

Thanks everybody for links and advice. We have actually done heaps of camping and long haul trips with trailer etc, but this coming trip is like nothing before. Your advice will help with what we have learnt from previous shorter trips.

Go to www.desertaccess.com.au
and go to "What to Take".
I'm not saying you need it all however,
you won't forget to consider something
