The older shape D22 uses a version of the 3 Lt in the Patrols.

The Newer D40 uses a new 2.5 Lt engine.

You can still buy the older D22 new as both vehicles are sold side by side.

Soon the older D22 will have the new D40 2.5 lt engine standard.

Confused????

There is no news when they are going to stop making the old D22.

They did stop making the D22.

Lost too many sales due to the high price of the D40, so the D22 will make a comeback but using the 2.5 engine, to fill the lower price gap. There could still be some new 06 plated D22s around with the 3.0l.

The 2.5 has a relatively narrow power band, requiring 6 speed gearbox to keep it in the power band.

Already hearing some bad reports about the D40, ie chassis bending problem, and ground clearence,,
Give me the D22, tough as hell, probably set up as a "tradie's ute" with good 4x4 capabilities.

Cheers Bucky

One can only hope, Nissan will put the next 3.0L V6 diesel in the Pathfinder and Navara (195kw/550Nm) give it the power it needs.
