I just got a quote to replace the rear leaf springs on my Nissan Ute and they quoted me $580 to replace the springs. Most likely needs bushes too. That sounds expensive to me .
Or is that normal those days?

Do they actually need replacing ? I've had great success in the past with just having them re set....much cheaper.

Yup- get a reset done- and if you're carrying heavy loads, maybe an extra leaf fitted !!

I did the reset with extra leaf in my Rodeo years ago and made the ride very stiff and jary. You needed to have a load in the back for a comfortable ride.

Depending on the brand as prices will vary slightly from the supplier - but that's about right for new leaf springs - lots more steel than a coil job.

Bushes/shackles would be extra if required as I'm sure you're aware.

I've got an ex Telstra canopy on mine it has a ten leaf spring arrangement. I had mine checked by 3 Perth companies and the Nissan dealership and got 4 vastly different reports, ranging from full suspension replacement front back and shocks $2156, new ten leafs (as unable to reset) $1500, replace 10 leaves and rear shocks $980 and Springs are Serviceable only minor adjustment to shackles required (Nissan) $0. I'm still not sure which opinion to believe.

I see you are Qld Based, Give Tony Motson a ring at Springwood
Motsons Automotive, they done all my resets and had an extra leaf fitted in rear. He will probably be able to give you a quote over the phone for comparison.

Also try Kings Springs on the Gold Coast, they manufacture and fit.

Or if you want a vastly improved ride, fit auxiliary coils, Fred's 4wd Conversions 0407063126

Ring around, But I'll think you will find that is about right for replacing leaf springs.
You be able to get Dakar series spring from ARB (old man emu)
