Good to see someone taking advantage of Lawson's bush yarns
BUT
AFAIK he never got as far as SA, he was too busy drinking in NSW.
That statue bears little resemblance to the description I have in Lawson's Prose Works.
Must be the "modern" version.

And if you have never read the tale...well, you're joking, right ?

The hairs on the back of my neck still stand up whenever I read "The Chinaman's Ghost."

Thank goodness I don't live in his time. I'd never survive.

Love Lawson's stuff. Lots of stuff out there nowadays depicting the outback and country now that it's become more accessible but nobody does it better or even anywhere near as good.

Overworked word but he's a dead set legend.

Have a look at this place if you are going nearby. Great little pub and has a statue of the dog out the front. Oh and tale is here also.
