I had a meeting with a General Manager of Telstra today.

For those of you who are expiencing problems with ADSL connection I'm afraid the news is not good.

At best, it will be at least two years before there is any significant Infrastructure upgrade (if at all).

How this pans out will depend on the Rudd Government's tender process. Of particular interest is the possible response from organisations that I wouldn't have considered.

The process beggars belief.

Leaving that aside

I'll give you a simple example. It seems like only yesterday, that if you did a bit of damage to the car, an assessor would come around and have a look at it. Not any more.

Digital photos are taken then sent to the Insurance company.

However, if the panel business is in a dial up area, there are real problems with large data transfer.

This also applies to many other small businesses.

I'll get off my soap box now

Regards

Kim

Oh I misread the post. You said A general manager, I thought it said THE general manager.
You should have had a meeting with Sol...except he's kinda busy trying to get his candidate elected in the States at the moment.

Have I missed something?
"NextG broadband is everywhere" or does that mean 95% of population is covered???? Two totally different things.

Try telling the good folk in places like Oodnadatta or Old Andado or any of the 5% of the population outside the main areas that are covered.

"major upgrades are happening now everywhere" where the system works, NOT everywhere.

If they work everywhere why have HF or sat phones?

Some people might also think that $85 a month, for up to 1 gb download, $115 for 3 gb is a rip off.
