Recently read the following article on a web site:
'The Western Australian Police Department has received 500 submissions on possible alterations to the Firearms Act.
Police say the Pastoralists and Graziers Association and the WA Farmers Federation are among the many to have made submissions.
The police are conducting a review of 32 items in the Act, including limiting the number of firearms and amount of ammunition allowed by a licence holder.
The farmers' federation says it wants to prevent licensing becoming too difficult for farmers since guns are an essential tool in agriculture.
Police say farmers' comments are being investigated and the results will be included in a report due to go to the Police Minister by the middle of this year'.
Regards
Kim

Cars and Trucks kill more people each year on our roads, so are you going to have a Buy back on them this year?
Firearms don't kill, it is the person behind the trigger.
Shooting is one of the safest hobbies / sports in the world.
Drop the licence crap and bring back the fatherly son thing again.
Since the buy back more people are being robbed / bashed because the people doing it know that even if you have a firearm it has to be locked away.

Hi Davoe,
I wouldn't let them worry you as they are blind and don't want to see.
There are more Australians out there with cars / trucks what ever that can kill and do so every day than there are firearms owners.
At least we have more genuine friends out there with the same interests than motorists do, look at the road rage. Also some of the maniacs behind the wheels of some of the cars and some of the cowboys behind the wheels of some of the trucks.
How many vehicles be it cars or trucks do you see compared to a firearm left in the driveway / street ready waiting to be stolen.
Who has to have a safe to lock items away in? not just a garage or carport or whatever.
Items in the kitchen drawer can kill as
well and do it without any noise, so what is safer?

I love those gun control turkeys, they really can't see past their own pet hate and allow others to get their enjoyment in other ways.
I no longer shoot but cannot see how even more regulation of licenced gun owners is going to either save lives or stop crime as criminals don't obey laws of any kind.
And if someone really wants to top themselves, if a gun isn't available they'll do it in some other way.
If they open their eyes and minds and really look and learn they'll find gunowners are probably at the very bottom of the list of those most likely to go mad and shoot someone else.
But there's nothing like more regulations to satisfy the killjoys amongst us who because they don't want to so something no one else should either!
Not much to do with 4bys but certainly produces some entertainment.
Alan.

Hi Alan
That’s what frustrates me about these people. They have a childish view of firearms in that they believe if we were to remove all legally owned firearms society would suddenly become a “better place”. In psychological terms it’s transference of social responsibility onto an inanimate object and is, clearly, irrational.
Legal firearm owners in Oz are very rarely responsible for criminal activity with their guns, the problem occurs with people who obtain illegal firearms and that would not be changed by removing guns from responsible owners. One cannot imagine a 6’2”, tattooed “bikie” saying “I’d better not take the sawn off shotgun on this job because I don’t have a licence” :)
We need to understand it is not guns or knives or baseball bats or iron bars or C4 explosive or petrol bombs which are the issue… it’s people! And it is impossible to legislate in a manner which prevents bad people doing bad things – making explosives illegal doesn’t stop people making bombs, does it?
