Read with interest in Saturdays West that Nissan plan to re-interduce the "new" D22 with a few cosmetic changes and fit the Pathfinder 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine instead because the current 3 litre diesel no longer meets the current eco standard on emissions !!!!!!!!!!........COULD this mean a "new engine" for the Patrol and what?????.....a new and powerfull V8 turbo crdi maybe?........I wait with interest (and hopefull expectation)

Very interesting Phillip, sounds logical as I know many potential buyers still torn between the D22 and the D40 for various reasons.

G'Day Phillip

D40 comes out of Spain
D22 from Thailand from memory

This was always the plan for Nissan, that is why no single cab D40.

Nothing at present on the Patrol other than likely to be based on Titan (US) platform, which currently does not have a diesel option

Regards

Rolande

It wasn't allways the plan as Nissan were expecting better sales of the D40 to tradies. However because of the price and lack of base spec vehicles they haven't sold many so they decided to bring back the D22 as it was around 10K cheaper.

I heard this last year and have been waiting to hear a release date as we have D22 Navara's as our work vehicles and I would like to keep them the same. I didn't know about the engine change however so will be keeping an eye on how this unfolds.

David

The engine is not in the same state of tune as the D40, either - it has slightly less power and torque, and it only has a 5 speed box instead of the 6 speed.

Perhaps the re-tune is to spread the torque band more evenly, as the D40 definately needs the 6 speed to keep it on the narrow power band.

Pricing likely to be around the 30,000-38,000 mark.

Should be a fleet buy available to match the outgoing D22 4x4 with 3 litre, which was going for around 32,000 with a bull bar and a few other extras.
