I have a 4l, V6 manual hilux (2005) and I am considering fitting cruise control.

1. Has anyone fitted cruise to a manual hilux? Comments?
2. Recommended cruise manufacturers?
3. Recommended cruise installers in Melbourne?

Many thanks,

Hi Wags
We fitted a Command AP500 to our 2004 Hilux ute 2 years ago. Reasonably happy with it, though it doesn't hold the speed as good as I expected after reaching the top of a good climb - speed goes up by 5-10 kph sometimes, before dropping down. May just need better adjustment of settings though. Very handy to have on the long drives.
Cheers, John

Wags, I also have a Command (not sure of model number) cruise control fitted to my '05 TD manual Hilux. An excellent addition. Being a manual, they just put another cut out on the clutch in case you forget to switch it off before pushing the clutch in.

There are plenty of after market fitters. I ordered mine throughToyota when I got the vehicle new so that I would get the full 3 year warranty on it, but they had an after market fitter come in and fit it.

Command Auto Group contact details are Ph: 02 971 40900. sales@tcag.com.au
They should be able to recommend some local installers.

I have had an Auscruise by Altron fitted to my 2004 manual Hilux. It is a Drive by Wire type. I am happy with it. It is superb going down a hill and on the flat but it will go over the speed 2-3 km/h after it has driven up a hill. The controls are on the steering wheel which is convenient.
