For some time now my 05 D22 single cab has had an annoying 'clunk' in the front? end. It is impossible to duplicate when trying to show my local Nissan dealer but most often happens after a bit of a drive then reversing (can happen at other times too ie launching).

I have noticed that SWMBO's X-Trail has developed a similar 'clunk' too.

I cannot see an obvious loose mount etc and the dealer cannot seem to find it either.

Has anyone experienced this problem first hand as I would like to stop it. (please no suggestions like it could be this or that as i'm a mechanic and can guess as well as the next bloke)

All D22s have an annoying clunk in the front suspension when on full lock. A bit of grease on the turn stopper thingo helps.

Does it happen when you are reversing out of drive ways at full lock? That's when mine does it, and it's the front end hitting on a bump stop at full steering travel and the gutter makes it rub as the suspension travels a little. Confrimed the diagnoses by putting some grease on the bump stop and the noise stopped.
