timing belt pully direction

on my nm 3.5 petrol , the timing belt pully that tensions the belt , looking at the front of the motor which way should it be tensioned? if it was to be anticlockwise shouldnt the two pin holes be at the bottom ?

Yes tension clockwise, you say is bearing noise so maybe try new tensioner bearing as you can't simulate load on a bearing in your hand.

the bearing is brand new . i put a hearing stethascope on the waterpump (new) idler pully (new) and the tensioner pully , and that is where the noise is coming from . i thought it could be the belt riding over the pully . tried silicone spray , chalk , but no success. the belt was a bit tight before but since it was loosend the sound is still there just a bit quiter
