Hi all

We are intending to travel from Cameron Corner to Birdsville in late June via Merty Merty and the Strezlecki Track. I have read on this forum that some of the turnoffs can be a bit tricky. Does anyone out there that has done the tip have the GPS details for the turnoff the Strezlecki at Moomba and also the other intersections between Moomba and the Birdsville Track.

Would appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Peter

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the useful info. Have you travelled from Moomba to the Walkers Crossing track without having to go into Innamincka? If so, what's it like?

Hi,

Travelled from Moomba across to Birdsville a couple of years ago.
Yes, can be tricky & several tracks join together anyway.

I have an Oziexplorer GPS plot if you want it ...

If you are intending to use the Walkers Crossing then you need to keep a very close eye on the road closure report which can be accessed from this forum. As well getting their via the Moomba gas field back roads can certainly be challenging as they are not sign posted. But if you use the RAA and/or Hema and even the Desert Parks pass maps you will be able to navigate your way around.

The big question is if the Crossing is going to be open. Check that first.

Thanks Rob. Yes we are watching the road conditions in fact road closures prevented us from doing this route last year

If you have a Garmin GPS, and Mapsource Software, I can supply you with the " route " we took in '07, from Innaminka thru Walker's Crossing, to Birdsville

Thanks Bucky. We have a basic Garmin Etrex but I don't think it lends itself to software.
