Have you checked out the BOM site re rainfall this week in the
Pilbara - Rudall - Kidson area??
Should make your travels interesting in 2008 and 2009!!!
If those tracks were overgrown in 2007, then this lot of rain following several other events in 2007, should really make it tough out there. Might be a bit of track building/new tracks to be made too.
Cheers
Chris

I wouldnt be so concerned about that but the 400mm telfer had in April would have got things flying in the area. Was so wet frogs were just jumping everywhere in the dune swales

Thanks Dunc...I had been there. This time I looked around a tad more but could not find data with significant rainfalls so thats why I asked for the link.
Hoping to spend some months out there next year.
Cheers

Still raining on and off this morning. Working on the FMG rail project, all creeks are running and several are closed.

Hey Chris,
Always pack the floaties just in case. Hopefully it'll be nice and dry by June. The waterholes around the place will be nice a full for the rest of the year I'd reckon. If worst comes to worst, Willem will only be 800 kms away for a rescue (as the crow flies that is). It'll be interesting to see what cyclones penetrate into early 08. They sure did some damage to tracks and creeks in 05 and 06. Will make the trip west from
Hanging Rock and north from Christies Crossing towards Woodie Woodie interesting.
The trip is slowly taking shape. I'm really looking forward to a couple of months in the Great Sandy and Rudall area. Upskilling on tyre repair at the moment as you could probably imagine. Hoping to still coincide with the
Innamincka gathering. Are you going to get across?
Cheers. Mick.

G'day Mick
I am already working on next year....softening up SWMBO to come along for the 3 month trek.(She is abstaining from this years adventures) Might even get a few EO mates to join in for some sections..especially the offtrack ones.
ATM I am in the planning stages of a trek this year into some extremely remote area of the NT and have some help from one of the participants who is switched on with contacts etc. Part of the process is obtaining a permit and we have already commenced negotiations with the relevant bureaucracy...:-). Other land owners have already given permission for transit, using station tracks.
There are still some repairs and upgrades to be done to the GQ and hopefully all will be ready by the time we leave.
Cheers
