Hi
Just drained the two gearbox's to find my "cheap" drill driven pump, that hasn't been used for quite some time has died.
Anyone suggest a brand or method that is best in getting the new oil back in the box?
Thanks Lyndon

Gday Lyndon,

Go down to Bunnings and spend $10 on a 4-5 litre Hills sprayer. Cut the hose to a short length. Fill it up with gearoil and pump away to bring it up to pressure - watch it as it fills the gearbox.

I have 2 - one for 75/86 gearoil and the other for the thicker LS90 diffoil. The other mod I did was to fit a schraeder valve to each - then I can pressurise them with a tyre pump.

G'day Lyndon,
I use Macnaught oil pumps, both 20L drum pump and suction gun, both work well.
You can get cheaper pumps but in my experience with them, you get more oil on the ground than in gearbox.
Adam.

I use a gadget that looks like a huge syringe. Got it at super cheap I think and is made to extract oil as well as put it in.
Holds about a litre a go and is great for mowers, gearboxes etc.
Stainless steel and works great.

Received a Repco trade dogalogue at work today. They had what seems like a suction type unit that hold 6.8L or something like that. $129 I think it was. Thinking of buying one to change the oil in my boat. Would work well on diffs, transfer cases etc. as well.

Get the lid off your ATF/ power-steering pump bottle and pour a litre of diff oil in and place hose in breather and let drain over an hour or overnight!!! same thing with washer bottle hose.
