i am in the market for a new gps navigation unit as my old 1 is having a hissy fit
i would like a 4.3 screen and blue tooth
I WILL NOT ENTER ANOTHER DICK SMITH STORE so that takes any of there stock out (bfore you ask i am sick of standing around getting no help and when someone comes along they are worse than no help)
there are 2 in a local paper
1 navman gps $599
2 tom tom one xlgps $499
any others at a reasonable price with these features

Hi Steve,
Despite what others may think, I have now purchased 3 Mio C520.
It has excellent features, bluetooth, 4.3 screen and voice to text.
My 1st was stolen from my car and I replaced my daughters Uniden (alos stolen) (crap) with another Mio C520.

Soooo .... the Nuvi will be will 6 times as good .
He wants a GPS , a GPS that will work and work perfect, not a piece of cheap schitt from HN ,DSE, or Ebay, something that will give him many years of service, 100% warranty backup , and will be cheaper in the long term .

Nuvi 250w is $499 at GPSOz

and the new Nuvi 260 is $399 with a smaller screen but the same great maps

I would go a Garmin like this rather than a tomtom or navman

Mike, I prefer the term Omnipotent Bonz. God Almighty Bonz, although my correct title, is so formal and not within the keeping of this informal mode of communication.

Please note this in future.

I am also known as KS of TI. A monniker I wear with pride.

Omnipotence is not deemed by the prevalence of other species to reproduce, it just IS.

Therefore any argument, fact, thread of consistency or otherwise cannot remove what is deemed to me.

To some I am Simply Bonz, to others waeftib.

To you! I am Mr Bonz :0)

Steve,
I should also add that Mio customer service is better than any service I have dealt with and I also bought mine from Harvey Normans.

Doug your full of it! Sense that is,, HN or Tricky Dicky's I am sure youll find someone with the knowledge, but only by fluke finding someone with an interest in them. GPSOz and JAppleseed are the experts and they know stuff.

On the contrary shaker, MioMap is quite good, I ran it for a while on my PDA but it didn't agree with the hardware and kept crashing but what I saw was pretty good, at least the equal of TomTom if not a tad better

I have a Mio P350 & used the Mio Map for about a week, Destinator with Navteq mapping kills it.

I have also got Tom Tom software, but settled on Destinator 5, because it uses Navteq mapping, which I have found to be far superior to Whereis mapping in rural areas.
I would like to try Route 66, as it also uses Navteq maps.

Steve.
I have tried a few, The Navway is the only one so far that has complete maps. The others use maps from Telstra that are not up to date. The Navway uses Melway maps which so far have not taken me up a wrong road. If you are a an RACV member you can get one for $699 with annual updates. Eric

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 250W after much looking around. Got it from Harv's (norman). The guy there didn't know jack but I knew what I wanted after doing some research.

Great unit for what I need. Have some Shonkymaps on it and it works great. Cept I still think they need an Aussie Sheila navigator voice. "turn left 'ere luv" The pommy bird inside drives me up the wall & I can't understand the Russian one.
