There was another post re: this recall. Our's is a 10/03 model and we recieved the letter from Nissan in the mail yesterday. It probably affect's all the 4.2 tdi models if you hvae not received a letter it may be worth giving Nissan a ring to check.

I believe the recall affects the following VINs,

Wagons JN1TCSY61A0 345001 to 365922

Coil Cabs JN1UCNY61A0 020101 to 028274

Leaf Cabs JN1UCLY61A0 520101 to 526251

Check with your local Nissan Dealer

Have been told it will take a week to get the parts and it will be a 5 hour job. Now I have a 3" dumpipe and a couple of other mods so I'll be going over it with a fine tooth comb to see if everything is back where it should be!

I have read conflicting stories wether or not they remove the turbo to get to it. It runs behind the block near the firewall and is a fiddly job. From what i've read it makes a mess in the engine bay if it lets go covering everything with soot.

I have one of the last 4.2's and my EGR pipe let go in Jan just as I got back onto the bitumen at Robe. Made a hell of a bang.
Only a small amount of soot on the fire wall. Was still drivable but... very noisy and hardly any power.
All fixed under warranty but very inconvenient.....Worst part is 3 weeks later I have to have it done again! The new improved part wasn't released in Australia until 10 days after I had mine done.

cheers
Alex
