Does anyone out there own a 2.8 L Toyota Hilux with an after market turbo fitted.?
If so how does it perform and have there been any problems with it? I would appreciate any info as I am thinking of fitting a turbo to my lame horse.

Had it on for three years and wouldn't ever go back. One hill that i used to be in third at 3000 revs and 70kph , I can now take in fifth gear 2000 revs at 80kph or with less labour fourth gear at 90kph. Mine is a DTS system fitted by South Coast 4WD centre. Dont listen to any of them when they say they do a drive in drive out job. it's bulls***t. They do not remove your pump off the car so they only increase the fuel for the turbo. the right way to do it is Budget an extra $600 and take it to your local pump specialist and have it removed and reset to factory specs plus 4 to 10 percent. This can only be done off the car on the proper machine by a specialist and believe me it is well worth it. Your auto advance ,fuel etc settings all work hand in hand you cant adjust one without the other, just ask any reputable pump guy. One bloke said to me " If you could adjust a pump on a car why would I have all this equipment which cost me $500,000 " You wont go any faster with your turbo but you will notice a dramatic improvement in torque and you will get very little and sometimes no dieback on hills that previously slowed you.
