Graham,
checkout www.tjmproducts.com.au in the section about their across oz trek, they took a GU petrol and had it fitted with a 15 plate second batt. but they did not say where they installed it.
hope this helps

I have a 3litre turbo diesal with dual batteries plus glinds shower in engine bay no problems 2nd battery fits between air filter and anti lock breaking plumbing on lhs not sure about 4500 petrol have you considered 2 in one batteries eg 2 batteries in one case similar size to one battery

Graham - try the piranha.com.au site as they have an extensive list of battery trays on hand. I found recently that after many after market companies said no to my pathfinder installation that it was indeed possible. Do the research and you might be suprised what you will discover.

I have fitted a dual battery to my GU 4500 patrol. The tray was supplied by a local 4WD accesories shop from Piranah and required the repositioning of some of the clutch vacuum pipework and its canister. I also extended the end of the tray closest to the motor and this allowed me to fit the ODYSSEY ES12V1500 as described in a reply I sent to NIGEL'S Nov 8 question in this forum.
