I'm heading out to
Newnes in a few weeks, visiting the main attractions like
the Lost City and
Glow Worm Tunnel. We will be heading in via the ZigZag and leaving via Blackfellows Hand track.
Can anyone give me some GPS coordinates for other points of interest in this area. Any off the track lookouts, sites etc.
I have also been told about amazing
rock formations off the Sunnyside Track and also near Ben Bullen NP. Anyone have any info on these areas. Coordinates would be good.
I will have the Ben Bullen and
Lithgow topo maps to work with, as
well as the Boiling Billy
treks book.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks.

Pajboy,
Visit this link for
Newnes in the
places system and scroll down a little to the map - on this map select
Point of Interest - the system will return all the
places you mentioned plus a few other you can then open each of these
places up, read about them, get photos and positional information.

Almost opposite where Black fellows hand track meets the Lidsdale road into
Newnes is the Baal Bone gap track.I travelled about 10 km up this track which goes to Ben Bullen a few months ago. There are fantastic
views back into the Wolgan Valley and even back to Wallerawang from the Wolgan Trig.point. I'm going to do the rest of this track tomorrow and then up to
Capertee and through to Sunny Corner so can report back in more detail if you want to hear. Have fun
Newnes is a great place.
Stuart.

Not sure if you are aware of this 'little known fact' but
Capertee valley is known geologically as an 'enclosed valley' and is the second largest such enclosed valley in the world - the only bigger 'enclosed valley' is the Grand Canyon -
Capertee is actually longer than Grand Canyon but not as deep, of course :-)
It is truely awesome to see, especially for the first time
