Having towed my van and in the past a campertrailer out of
Brisbane to
Goondiwindi and then parts south so many times over the years we finally decided on a different path out of boredom.
To any weary travellers out there may I suggest a detour to
Boomi population 49. Hema map 24/B4. Just to the left of the
Goondiwindi to
Moree section.
We arrived to find cheap camping and a hot artesian pool. $6 a day to use amenities pools toilets etc. And if power is needed an extra $4 a day. And after a long day in the artesian pools the local pub is a huge convenient/inconvenient 60 metres away.
My advice, take the road less travelled occasionally.

I take it the convenient was the 60 metres to the pub and the inconvenient was the 60 metres back to the camper. grin

Oldsquizzy,
The truth is that I am still trying to work it out. It can be an inconvenient distance when going because the thermal pools make me thirsty. The grog cures that but then there is that......60 metres back. So I will try again at 6pm tonite and see finally which is the more convenient/inconvenient...going or returning.
Geez what on earth took up my time before I retired. Life has taken on a whole new complexity.

Ah
Boomi. What memories. Back in the 90's we went there every year for the
Boomi mudraces. Dunno if they still have them but gee they were a hoot. Absolute must see for people if they still hold them. Crikey we had some fun and laughs. They used to be on the same weekend as
Bathurst.

Boomi mud trial still definately on October long weekend.
Boomi also has a very funny play, on the last two weekends of August. An all local production -
well worth it
