Out playing on the weekend at Ault Beac track N.E. Melbourne
and managed to collect a big stick thru bumper, whilst on an excursion around a downed tree.
Collecting sticks is far from uncommon but if you look at the picture in the members page you can see that we were lucky once again.

This one is about 45mm round and must have gone thru bumper
opening and glanced off the winch and its other end came to rest
right on the radiator fins and unbelievably did no damage.

Normally it would have piecered the Patrols 2nd electric fan first
but this is one of those items I deemed unecessary and removed to save weight.

We even drove about 2km up this rocky track with both difflocks engaged before we stopped and noticed the protruding branch.

Hi Robin, looks like you were very lucky this time. That was a good size branch too. Could have cost you dearly. Maybe the winch saved you ??? There you go, can tell the wife now that the extra $$$ you spent on a winch probably saved you a grand already on a new radiator and aircon condensor LOL Regards Steve M

G'day Robin
A lucky break (no pun intended!) this time. They don't always have a happy ending.
Amazing how many sticks one picks up when off the beaten track, and amazing where they can end up, and how well they sometimes wedge themselves in.
I could have a good sized bonfire by now if I'd bothered to collect and keep them all :-)
Cheers from the Moose

Robin,

I looked at the photos on your members page and saw that you also camped on the Crooked river when the swimming hole was siltered up.
I was there last week and after some rain got a hot of the washed out river bank.
