Hi guys looking for some experience from you guys I am still trying to decide between the above mentioned 2 units, the Gps will mainly be used for 4WDing for track logging and remote trip work and cannot decide between the 2 so I am looking for some pro's and con's from people that have used these 2 units
Thanks for any feedback in advance

They are both good units.

The Magellan have better Topo maps so far, but there are more problems getting the unit to talk to the PC.

You can install free maps on the 60Csx, Shonkymaps would be the best one to get , I haven't seen what OxztopoV2 is like yet

Hello - OztopoV2 is close enough to being = to DAST topo considering most of the data used to create maps is from the same source. Yes free maps available for Garmins but most are no more than a good basemap. Get the XL if you like a bigger screen. The Garmin has more features that are useful but that depends on intended use.

Cheers

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Hi Clint,

I just bought the Garmin 60CSx as a hand held for walking & boating.
I have PDA's running OziExplorer for 4WD stuff & a Nuvi 660 navigator for Hwy stuff.
The free Shonky topo maps are really useful, but the Oztoppo V2 is a fair bit better IMHO.

Cheers,

David

Skippy, I have everything except city guide I have a tomtom for that, the problem is,with all these maps Icant find any tracks or roads, and what I can see is on such asmall scale it is hopeless,I thought when I bought all this stuff I would be able to see any roads or tracks around say Onslow or Cervantes,Garmin can't help me and suggest I have to buy some other maps, where do Istop spending money and just bin the Garmin?

I don't have a copy of Oztopo so I can't see the maps but on Shonkymaps the tracks aren't in the town ship and neither would Oztopo be.
Maybe Explorer or Dougy can assist on your problem , another thing is on your PC you have to select HIGHEST in "Select a map detail "setting

Is your map OztopoV2 or V1 , I don't have T4A installed on my PC right now so I can't see what that has

Oztopo v2, I am not looking for tracks in townships just tracks around them, although after reading the operators manual for the 50th time I am starting to work a few things out,so I will keep perservering a bit longer.
