Fraser Wrap up

We returned from Fraser Island on Monday after a 5 night stay at Waddy Point. I was amazed at how much damage was done on the eastern beaches by the storms and strong winds and how much beach got washed away. For those that know the shortcut along the beach from Waddy Point to the Shop at Orchid well you can’t use that as there is more than a 3 meter drop down to the beach. So much rubbish got washed onto the beach but it was all gone by the time we drove back. We had 4 days of full sunshine and we had a great time. You could drive on most beaches 2 hours either side of the tide but even in some places it was pushing it.

Wish I could go back tomorrow ?

Hi I will be up there in about 6 weeks.
Certainly makes it long trip up to orchid beach when the beach has gone at the short cut there is a name for that little point,
but i can't remember it.
Did you Drive up to the cape, some times you can't get around
Browns rocks, about 3 years ago it was a bit hit and miss to get around even at low tide the water was washing up to the rocks.

We tried going up there but the tide was to high over the rocks even at 2 hours before the tide turns

hopefully it will have repaired itself just nicely by the time we go there in september for 2 weeks.
amazing how much the beach can change in 2 weeks, we were there one year and the beach was like a highway on the day we arrived, then we had 30 knott + winds on day 3 for the next 5 days and you could hardly do 40 klms/ hr along the beach, by the time we left our 2 week holiday it was like a highway again.
