Hi I can buy one of these generators from someone I know for $300, it reasonable condition. Just wondering have they been a good unit over the years and how do they compare noise wise to the new Hondas.

Also I assume 650w is max what is nominal output for these. Thanks...

I have an honda EM650 which is basically the same unit that is bought into the country by an importer. Honda branded stuff is excellent and you will have no problems provided everything is serviced correctly. We get 8 hours of running out of a tank at low speed. The new inverter genny's are better, lighter and quieter but a lot more expensive. It all depends what you wish to run with one.

550w is nominal output with a 650w peak under load.

I have one, works great, unsure how old it is but always starts first time, prob uses more fuel per hour than more modern one's but does the job for me perfectly. And that's a good price if it's not worn out. It's certainlu quiet enough, on the end of a 20 metre lead you can forget its thre nearly.

FIL has had one for about 10 - 12 years, and it has been around oz many times and done hundreds of hrs of service with minimal services.
will give you about 500w continuos.
If you dont want it i will take it!

Sounds like you have the goss on this great unit, but I will add another vote for them. I have had an EM650 for 10 or so years and run it most days in the beginning for up to 300 days a year. Only gets started about every 4 or 5 months these days, but still starts easy and gives good service. Mine is still going strong today and at $300 I reckon the unit you speak of would be a bargain if running well.

Regards, Trevor.

I bought one of a mechanic mate of mine for $250 and I am very happy with it. I use it to charge batteries when away, very quiet. EU10's are lighter and smaller almost twice as powerful but a lot more expensive.
