Stef & Sal
My wife lost her dog of 12 years today. She was a good girl too. Rotti Cross. Gentle as a lamb. It's amazing how much a person thinks about what's important in life even at the loss of a dog. Still, a dog's is your mate forever, they don't hold grudges like us. We could learn a lot from them

Hi Steffan, thats the only problem with bl oody animals there like one of the family and when they go due to there too shorter life span its gut wrenching. I look at our rotti every morning when I walk out to go to work and just look at her stomach to make sure its still going up and down. She's 10 now which is pretty much there life span. She doesnt even look up when my wife and I leave for work but still is walking and barking etc but uses a lot of effort to do it. We spent over $1200 just before xmas to remove a possible cancer lump from her head but turned out it wasnt. She now drags her right rear leg when she firt gets up due to arthritus. All the best to yourself your wife and especially your kids. I think everyman sheds a tear when they lose there loyal mate. Regards Steve M

Not too long after I had my Cav put to sleep, about 2 years ago, a friend of
mine said "that's the price you pay for owning a dog - they die before you do". He's right, of course, and it's a hard price but one worth paying, I have no doubt.
Go
well Stef and Mrs Stef - time will heal... eventually :)

I said to my wife the other day, no matter what mood you come
home in, our labrador "ralph" always puts a smile on your face. He sleeps in the Family room so he is the second thing that I see first thing in the morning (after my wife) What a great start to the day! Dreading the day he goes.............

Thanks all. Sally rarely gets on the
forum & tonight she has seen people we haven't even met yet offering
well wishes. I never doubted they would come through. No doubt time will heal.

Sal, losing a dog tugs at our heart harder than most things we meet in life. I am doubly stirred by this, as i lost a wonderful pup called Jess some years ago; she was turning out to be the best sheep dog we ever had as
well as a wonderful companion.
May the happy memories of the good times with your 'best friend' overcome the pain of the loss as time goes by.

yep, hope you have some photos to put up, a tough time.
Incidentally, my last dog's name was Sal. She will be my last. Losing a dog it just rips too much out of me. I don't think I can go through it again.
sorry Stef but I empathise with your wife.

Am hearing ya. We had to say good bye to our 2 girls last year, one of them in he
pic below with Mark. Having to get them put down within 2 months of each other was the hardest thing have had to do so far.
Cheers
Jo
