Hi - I have a 93 TDi200 Disco. I've received conflicting reports about the ability to fit a universal aftermarket cruise control to this vehicle, with one person suggesting I would have to get a cruise control specific to Discos, although I'm not sure what would be so special about a mechanically-controlled diesel Disco that would require this. Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation...

my friend has had a aftermarket fitted to his disco and it took 4 trips back to get it right... but it now works well.... $700 and 4 trips across town including the first trip... so it can be done with aftermarket.._____________________________________________

It depends on how much time you have/want to spend. I fitted a elec/vac unit to patrol TDI (elec throttle) that cost $299 and it has worked fine for three years.
The alternative was $700 and was the only one that could work on my Patrol = crap. Bought it at Bevics, now Bursons (Melb)

I fitted a K Mart unit on 99 TDi
Bought it on a 20% off everything day for about $160 18 months ago
Works perfectly keeps the speed within a 1k on the highway uphill and down hill
Installed it exactly as the supplied instructions needed no adjustment

At least 20 of my mates have the K Mart units installed on all types of 4WD none have had any problems

Yes the Kmart unit is great, and its Aussie designed and made too. It gives a variety of installaion methods to suit different vehicles, a video amd easy to follow instructions.

bill,
did you install the magnets on the driveshaft?
I had one of those command units years ago on a Magna and had to get a speedo drive for it because there was no where to mount the sender unit.
DO you have oics you could post or email?
