Does anyone know who may put out a coverage of Australian rural roads and tracks on an SD card eg. similar to Magellan Discover Australia

Hello - You are slightly vague in your requirements but assume you are looking at maps for a Magellan GPS unit? There are no other commercial products except those sold by Magellan for Australia.
What is your issue with the Magellan product? Price?.
There may or may not be some free maps floating around that might cover you area of interest but they wont have the same detail as DAST Topo or the Discover Aus Outback Tourer. You can also make your own but you will need to get road data anyway. IMHO if you have a mapping gps may as
well get the best maps available from Magellan and get out there an do it.
Cheers

Good work Doug - not sure how you know but yes Im beginning to feel a bit like the Michelin Man - the 2.5weeks in
Townsville in Jan added 5 kgs and no matter how hard I try to will it away it wont go.
But there is always tomorrow. I have to buy another copy of OzTopoV2 cause I went and bought a new Garmin Colorado, cant help myself..I need therapy.
All the Best

Greg
Know exactly what you mean, I sit here doing stuff on the puter and just keep on puttin' it on, Dusty is just as bad, he was 4.7kg just before xmas, now he's 5.1kg, So I forked out some dollars and got me a Garmin ForeTrex 201 to measure walking times and distance when we go to
Mission Beach for exercise, will put it to the
test on Sunday.
I had it in the car today to match it with the Nuvi, speed, and distance was was spot on the same , I have yet to match the track record, I need an adaptor for the computer, it is not USB.

Thanks Doug and Dusty,I have a Garmin with an SD slot not being used which you can download dater to an SD card eg pictures and view, so naturally it would be ideal to run another map for rural areas and tracks.
The link you sent me may have the answer,I do not need topo maps,I want tracks etc.
Where did you get the photo of my rig?

With OzTopp you get the contour lines with it but you don't have to install them which will leave just Roads and Tracks, but just hang 5 at the moment until they get the little problem fixed,

Thanks Doug,is this the only viable option or are there others?
You can get 4 gig cards now so surely getting a map on these is not a big problem.

Hi Des and all the helpful GPS geniuses
I have a Magellan Meridian with Discover Aus Streets and Maps, and have bought a bigger SD card to try and get it all on. Haven't tried it yet.
