At present we are using oziexplorer and auslig 250k raster maps in conjunction with a Garmin 12xl.
We have no major problems. We use it to download and up load waypoints when 4wdriving throughout Aust. At times we have the laptop operating and we are able to use the maps live.
We are thinking of upgrading to a Magellan platinum system. We are looking for a system that will allows us to see the map and track tracks as well as waypoints..
We are not always able to use the laptop when driving.
We have heard that Magellan will be supplying there own maps and software.
We have heard that we might have difficulty using our present maps and oziexplorer software. Is this the case?

The Meridans work fine with OziExplorer

Magellan are about to release an updated Mapsend product that includes all of Australia (rather than one state per CD as previously) for $250

You will also need a SD memory card (256MB for all of Australia)

If you are planning to buy this map CD then just buy the basic Meridan unless you really need a feature that is only on the Platinum
