WA Joe
Hi everyone.
Which maps have the most detail of roads and tracks in particular North QLD. I have found road maps just don't have enough coverage once off the tar.
Is there a really good detailed mapping program that I can down load then print pages I want on the market.
Haven't taken the next step to GPS mapping yet. If I do which ones are going give me the best detail.
Thank you,
Joe.

The Hema raster map series mapping program (available on this site) along with Hema maps also has around 150 more detailed off road maps produced by Geoscience Australia. I use these just as much as the Hema ones.

You can buy paper versions of the 1:50,000 maps for a lot of North Queensland, and the 1:250,000 maps too.
You can get the 1:250,000 on the Natmap series from Geosciences Australia which is I believe about to be, or perhaps has just been, updated. That doesn't necessarily mean that much will have changed in FNQ.
You need to find a map
shop like The Map
Shop which I think is an
Adelaide only institution, and get some professional advice probably.

Hi WA Joe,
Perhaps our article Using Digital Maps and Mapping Software will explain it for you (go to Topics - Navigation to find it).
