Hi there, there have been whispers around for some time now that Nissan may bring the Diesel XTrail out to Aus. My preference for next car is the xtrail however if it is not available in Diesel I will be looking elsewhere.
Is there anybody out there with an 'idea' or info on when the diesel xtrail will hit our shores? Is it worth me waiting another 6 or 12 months or should I give up and look at alternatives?
Thanks in adavance.

I've heard that they are just going to basically cut of the front 2 cylinders of the 3 litre, a 1500 cc Diesel for the X Trail. Nissan thinks this will reduce the unreliability problems in the full 3 litre version by about half..... :) Michael

They could just cut all the cylinders off, at least thay would finally have a Nissan that doesn't break down.
I'll get there someday, or die wanting to.

I believe the engine is a 2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel sourced from Renault replacing the previous 2.2 litre Nissan non turbo diesel.

Nissan would be crazy not to release a diesel option. If I were in your shoes, I'd wait and see.

Officially, there is no new news, just rumors.

Duraruna!! Nissan are crazy,, They havent made a good decision in years,, and i mean that,, Michael..

P.S.
Dont hold you breath waiting for a Diesel N-Trail, they have bigger decisions to make than that and they are still wringing their hands... Michael

I personally saw a left hand drive diesel x-trail at a servo at Sea Lake in western Victoria on the Calder hwy about 2 yrs ago. The thing that made me twig was the definite diesel rattle and big LEFT HAND DRIVE sticker on the back door. Also saw a Toyota LC200 towing a horse float not long after - middle of summer doing a hot weather run maybe???

On holiday in the UK late last year, every X Trail I saw was a diesel, I did not see a single petrol one, so they're available, just not on the Australian market yet.

You could always buy a Suzuki Grand Vitara diesel and get a low range too.
