Hi All,

I've got an after market tacho for diesel engines and looking to install it on my 80 series HZJ80 engine.

The diagram with the tacho is, how should we say, very primative and just wondering if there was anyone who's installed a tacho on an 80 series before or could give any pointers?

80 series usually have an electronic tacho that gets it's feed from a sensor near the injector pump. Aftermarket diesel tachos usually get a feed from the alternator. Is yours a sensor or alternator?

I think the tacho is designed to go to the alternator.

Hi 80seriescruiser (et al)

I will be following this post with much interest as I wish to fit a tacho to my 80, it's one of the things I miss from my 60.
Initial indications are that an instrument cluster swap will not work as the early, mine is a 91 standard, do not have the required sender off the fuel pump. A rough description of the sender location is on the side of the fuel pump near the block??

Not aware that the alternator is usable as a sender for the tacho.

Q1. Where did you buy it?
Q2. How much?
Q3. Can you post an image of the supplied wiring diagram, so that the forum gurus (guri??) can comment?

Regards,
Wayne.

PS. I/we have only just bought this vehicle, and upgrade to a vehicle that has a tacho, isn't an option..... ;-)
