I have a 4x4 d40 auto with only 5000 k's sitting in the dealers workshop with a blown engine. Has anyone else experienced probs with these vehicles? Seems to be a timing chain fault which has stuffed the crankshaft???

Mate i feel for you!!, Just can't help thinking that Nissan are not looking at the overall picture of the motors their sourcing for their vehicles!
Cheers Axle.

I don't know if this is a common problem on these cars or not but in my younger days I worked for dealers selling Holden, Ford, Toyota, Renault, Peugeot and Alfa and I have seen major failures like this a with all of them.
The first broken timing chain that I saw was on a new SLR 5000 Torana. The chain broke and smashed the front off the timing case during the pre delivery service!
Hopefully your problem is a one off and it won't happen again.

That'll learn ya.........
Sorry mate... I got a sour taste in my mouth after Nissan declined repairing 7 cracks in the chassis, a crack in the radiator support and 2 cracks in the cab sills.
Have decided I am not even going to bother fighting now due to a little misshap last week with the vehicle which will give nissan an advantage in the war of warranty. Am Trading it on Monday for a yota........
Have vowed that I will talk 1000 people out of a nissan in my lifetime. So far am up to 32 in 9 months

Hi
I was In
Darwin October last year and noticed a D40 in the dealer workshop. The motor was stripped due to a problem with the timing chain system.
The vehicle had only done 30,000 klm. Don't know how wide spread the problem is.
