We're heading down to SA , from Syd, in a few weeks and are wondering if it's worth taking the long way
home via
Menindee to
check out the lakes.
Are the floods filling them and is is worth the diversion?

Hi Smudger,
I was at the Lakes over the weekend and there is not a lot of water being let through the slush gates so
Lake Menindee is mostly dry.
There is more water expected to flow down the Darling in the next couple of weeks and I believe that the authorities are meeting this week to decide on whether the Lake should be allowed to fill.
Further up stream the Darling is looking better than it has done for some time e.g. at
Tilpa the river is now a constant 6m deep and has been as high as 8m and there is plenty of flow over the weirs.
I think it is a case of watch this space but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Steve O
