Cargo Drawers Feedback

I have found there is not a lot of equipment for Jackaroo's and manufactured my own 2 drawer system. I have been on trips over corrugated roads and it's working still, I'm thinking of going into production but don't know if the sales are out there. I constructed my _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx out of 2mm mild steel professionally bent and welded and had them powder coated they look like bought ones I will post pics on member Rigs page. Hi Graham,
The latches are from Eberhard and supplied from a wholesaler here in Perth called Industrial Rubber I'm pretty sure they are in other states as well.

Nice work, I would be interested in an approximate cost to build.

The runner look like prefabbed ones, what weight rating do they have?

Looks like a quality job. Well done

Mike

Hi Mike.
The runners are OEM but for $24 bucks a pair I couldn't say no, they carry 50kg which is sufficient for what I needed the next level up carry 80kg and cost around $28 a pair.

Aaagh cost to build a lot cheaper than the others sold out there in the "specialist" shops. I have had them drawn up professionally to fit the Jack using the anchor points already supplied then had the _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx laser cut and bent by a company in Osborne Park (drawer Carcass is one piece) which for a one of cut was surprisingly cheap the more I get cut the cheaper it would be to reproduce.

Glenn,

Yep, they certainly look the goods.

In relation to going in to buisness .... just remember that it is a very competitive one! I remember when there used to only be one mob making them (other than the rest of us wood-butchers knocking them up in the shed!!). Now there are quite a few to choose from, right from the top of the pile at over $2500 to about $750. You would need to fill a niche somewhere I would imagine.

Cheers,

Mark

Hey Mark,
I think your right, it's no good if you can't supply a whole range of different _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx for other Vehicleseither. The drawings I have were done in a drawing package you may have herd of "Solid Works" and from this basic drawing I can change so I could produce _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx for any vehicle...as long as I have the measurements. And fit in between the prices you have mentioned. It was something I was tossing around and put it on the site to see what feedback and interest was out there.

Glenn,

If you're considering this as a full time business, be prepared to put aside as least $200,000. It is not for the faint hearted.

If you're planning it as a little sideline to knock out a unit per weekend, and contract out the bulk of the work, and do the rest at home and cop a small earn, the investment will be bugger all.

I wish you well, as the big players have had it to themselves for too long.

Kind Regards and Best Wishes,

Jim
