Canning Stock Route

Hi everyone,

Have been planning a CSR trip this july but i have been told that the station you go through to get to the start of the stock route from wiluna is no longer letting people through. Anyone know if this is correct?

I can't comment on what you state but if the track follows the exact Stock Route then there is no way anyone can stop you from driving on the stock route. It is a public right of way.

andyroo,

If you are towing a trailer, the bottom section of the CRS is not possible.

Access through Granite Peak. There is a fee of $30 for vehicle and trailer. This might have gone up as this figure is a couple of years old now.
Contact Granite Peak on 08 9981 2983 to check road conditions before use.

The Well 3A- Windich Springs section has been realigned in co-operation with Cunyu Station to minimise track damage. This track will also be closed if wet.

I don't have a phone number for Cunyu Station but if you ring Granite Peak they should be able to let you know what is happening.

G'day Wayne

O/T, I realise, but is the cairn in your members profile on Holowiliena Station, in the southern Flinders Ranges region - east of Cradock?

Seems familiar to me, but I've seen many cairns - maybe too many?

Cheers

Wayne,

I think you have confirmed I have seen too many of these bloody things!

Cheers

PS

here's an exteremely remote trig point, near L Eyre. It has been described by Warren Bonython as he circumnavigated L Eyre on foot. My plans to visit this cairn were thwarted by a run of 4 dead tyres over2 days, decommissioning the 80 series that was to get us there!
