Hello all wise and learned friends,

have decided that I can't stand the stink on long trips and an in car shower is in order.

I've been looking at the glind aussie hot water system and I'm curious to see how useful it is to be able to pump from a creek to fill water containers for later.

Any feedback on other systems will be welcome

Cackles.
After many years of camping we use a bucket on a rope on the camp fire. Reliable simple versatile and less "stuff" Eric

Yeah, Cackles, ever thought of using a weed sprayer, new, of course. One person can have a complete, including shampoo, shower in 1.5 ltrs of water. You can also wash:- Feet, windscreen, dog and/or dishes with the same implement, which doesn't weigh half as much as all those other technical gadgets.

A learned friend of mine on this site, Crazy Dog told me there is only one type of system to use.

Gday Cackles,
Spent about $700 on a Glind hot water system (had to have one)
Used it 3-4 times, to many easier options.

Cheers..............BIGDOG

Crackles

I have a Glind unit. When turned on to it's full capacity it'll empty a 20L container in less than two minutes. Therefore your shower habits will have to change in the bush. Wet, lather, then wash down.

The pump has a far bit of lift, but have a think about the number of times you've camped next to a creek without a high embankment.

You'll also need a non return valve if your pumping from a creek.

In my case I don't have a missus or kids to worry about, so it's not a big issue, until the dog starts howling. LOL

Regards

Kim

Gday Kim,
Im starting to think Ive spent too much time in the bush!

SHOWER!!!!!! Hahahahahah
When in Rome, do as as the Romans...
When In the Desert , smell like a local.......

When I was working bush....usually part of the job was equiping a bore.
I made a shower that was a steel clip together frame with a tarp around it, aluminium floor, electric instant hot water service running off a bloody huge 4 cylinder diesel geny and the water straight out of the bore.
There were no 1 litre showers then....it almost took the skin off your back!

Other wise you drive the back hoe over to the bore and fill the bucket, lay the bucket on the fire for an hour or so, back it up and hop in!
Only trouble was you knew who your mates were......when it got cold you'd yell out to some one to take you in for a re- heat...trouble was..getting some bastasrd to take you off when you started cooking, thats when you found out if youd given someone too much $hiit that day!!!!
If only the greenies and OH&S mob saw what we used to do.

Cheers
Hairy

Your a trusting fella. Some of the dills I've known would leave you over the fire and have one hell of a good time at your boiling expense. LOL

thanks for the replies folks, and they're all valid points to be considered.
However if they're quick and simple when on the move every day then I'm all for getting one.
Being NQ born and most trips being south in winter (out-laws) I NEEEEED a shower to defrost and just couldn't be bothered boiling water etc.

I like the idea of a coleman for portability between cars,
but how quick are they to hook up if your doing long days?
and can you use it to pump from a water source too?
Can i use to wash the car down?
will it pump Bundy and coke if I break both arms?
You know, all the important questions?

hi Axel,

I like Zen Master Cackles, rolls well off the tongue.

We have a pop up tent that lives under the trailer cover so is always first up and we don't have to have the usual wrestling match.
I think it will be a coleman because we take the patrol on long trips and the rodeo for local trips (have to fit the esky)

I see BCF have them for $299 at the moment

thanks again folks.

A kettle, a small bucket, a piece of soap and a face cloth. Two of us can get sparkling clean using a litre of water.

I vote the coleman as well.
It has many uses. Including making a quick cuppa.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
