Has anyone put a caravan (no wheels) on the tray of a truck?
Thinking of doing this, but have been told it would "shake to pieces".
We would appreciate your thoughts.

I use to do this regularly in the Middle East. Just take common sense precautions.

Gday,
Seen plenty of people who have.
Truck
suspension would definately be harder than caravan. It depends where you are going to take it and what sort of condition the van is in.
Id do it. Just carry a battery drill and a heap of tek screws and rivets.
Eventualy it will be strong enough....

This one is a custom built 14' Bushtracker onto the Isuzu. When we were in Tasmania, the owners took it to the top of Mt
Wellington and up to the switchback to the Ben Lomond (winter) ski fields.

i have seen it done a few times, they were mounted on rubber blockes and then bolted to the chassis. it was done by a truck body builder.

The suggestion of rubber blocks makes me wonder if engine or gearbox mounts would do the job.

Thanks to all who replied. We had thought of mounting van on truck engine mounting blocks under with a sub frame so that we could mount water tanks & storage lockers underneath van too.

Another very serious idea we had was to put a shipping container on the back of the truck, cut holes for windows & doors & fit out like a van. We intend to put water tanks etc under container on a sub frame.
