Hi everyone

We were looking at heading to Cooloola (Teewah Beach) & camping on the beach with our C/T this easter. I was just wondering what the conditions up there were like? Has anyone been there lately? I know there has been a lot of erosion in regards to the weather lately. Is there any beach left??

Cheers
Justin

I haven't been up there myself but I was down at Noosa today (surfing) and went to have a look at the mouth of the Noosa river at low tide and from looking across there didn't seem to be much beach to drive on looked like a fairly high drop to the beach from the sand dunes. Main beach at Noosa has copped it and the surf was fairly big with dumping waves. I have heard that there is not much room at the base of the sandhills at low tide. But as I said I haven't seen it for myself, purely rumour.

Drove back from Fraser 3-4 weekends ago and the beach was not very nice at all. Was up there 2 weekends ago and there was sea weed everywhere and allot of erosions. I was going to head to Straddie but after all the bad weather I decided that we are heading out West. Hope it’s not 2 busy up there for you but I heard they are prediction Thousands again

Justin, don't go there Easter, even if you've booked, even if the beach is all there, there are less people at the ekka show day.

And the drive back to Brisbane ? You'll never get out of first gear on Monday avo.

Thanks for the info. The last time we were up there during public holidays was last year's Australia Day. It took 3 hours to get across on the barge due to banked up traffic! It was backed up to the beach cutting. Do you know of anywhere else that would be more quieter around S.E. Qld (we live on the Gold Coast) that would suit a family with a 3 & 5 yr old. We also have a large C/T set-up that is fully self sufficient.

You might find a park here www.epa.qld.gov.au. Problem with easter is it's pretty damn busy at most places. Have you ever been to Lake Borumba there's a nice camping spot there but I would suspect it will be crowded too.

Justin.
If you like bush camping, head south & explore west of Grafton.
The Clarence/Mann rivers have some great camp sites.
Now that Brunswick Heads bridge is opened, the trip south from the Gold Coast is quite good. Beats sitting in traffic for 3to4 hours going nowhere.
